“Carabao” launches 4 projects under “Carabao Football Platform” To create a sport platform and penetrate international markets
Carabao Group initiates mega CSR projects and marketing campaigns to launch the brand in the international market with football platform. The four mega-projects include “Carabao-Chelsea Coach the Coaches” where Chelsea FC coach trains football coaches for Thai youth teams; “Carabao U-Futsal Cup” a competition for 16 universities in Thailand and the metropolis areas; “Carabao e-Sports” online football competition via FIFA Online in search of e-sports talents; and “Carabao Grassroots Football” that promotes football among grassroots youths.
During the past few years Carabao has successfully entered sports world as official main sponsor of English Football League Cup (EFL Cup) for three years (2017-2020) under the name “Carabao Cup”, and also of Chelsea FC, the leading football club in English Premier League, for three years. This year, Carabao, the producer of Carabao Dang, Thai-owned energy drink brand, continues to support football with four big projects under “Carabao Football Platform” that will launch the brand in wider international markets.
Mr.Kamoldist Smuthkochorn Deputy Managing Director of Marketing for Carabao Group, says that, “We have all the Thai consumers for their continuous support for Carabao Dang that enabled us to expand to the European markets, and so for the expansion has been great. To give back to the society, we are launching Carabao Football Platform campaign that comprises four big projects, i.e. “Carabao-Chelsea Coach the Coaches” where Chelsea FC coach trains football coaches for Thai youth teams; “Carabao U- Futsal Cup” a competition for 16 universities in Thailand and the metropolis areas; “Carabao e-Sports” online football competition via FIFA Online in search of e-sports talents; and “Carabao Grassroots Football” that promotes football among grassroots youths. We believe that these four projects will directly and indirectly elevate the football scene in Thailand. With these initiations we aim to promote sports and keeping healthy in general. We truly hope that they will be successful and allow us to develop even more activities from them in the years to come.”
Mr.Kamoldist Smuthkochorn elaborates further that, ““Carabao - Chelsea Coach the Coaches” has been in the pipeline for a long time. Football has seen an immense and rapid rise in popularity in Thailand, as seen from public football pitches and football academies mushrooming all over the country to accommodate the needs of young beginners that wish to start playing football properly with strategized training. After Carabao secured alliance with Chelsea FC, the firm soon after negotiated with the club to send their youth team’s coaches to train their Thai counterparts. The approach was enthusiastically reciprocated by the club, and Thailand was chosen to be the pilot country for the training initiation. Chelsea FC sent coaches with more than 21 years in experience in 31 countries across six continents to share insights, skills and teaching experiences with the Thai coaches. This is to elevate the skills of Thai football teams to international level and pave ways for youth players to career of professional footballers. Participants in the training will learn how to become a good coach and how to train their protégés in modern ways, and this can launch their career as professional football coaches. We welcome all Thai coaches to this program as I we really think this will enhance the Thai football scene.”
“Carabao - Chelsea Coach the Coaches” will take place at Rajpracha Sport Resort & Spa in Pakchong, Nakhon Ratchasima, between November 22 until December 4, 2017. Each of the six groups of participants will train for two days from 8am – 4pm, and receive certificate from Chelsea FC upon completion.
“Carabao U-Futsal Cup” is a futsal completion among teams from 16 universities in Bangkok and the metropolis area, slated to kick off from January to April next year. The league competition consists of weekly competitions of eight teams at a time, and the team with highest score will be the winner of “Carabao U-Futsal Cup”. The last project, “Carabao Grassroots Football” in initiated by Carabao to promote football among grassroots youths that are in need of training equipment and opportunities to shine to proper football matches. The project accepts requests and proposals from the target groups and will consider sponsorship and support case by case.
“Lastly, we truly hope that all of these four projects will encourage and inspire Thai people to play football more. We also hope that these projects will serve as a springboard for us to develop more activities and initiations in the future. I would like to particularly highlight “Carabao - Chelsea Coach the Coaches” that will likely produce not only better coaches but also better football players, and this will surely benefit the Thai national team in the long run.” Mr. Kamondis adds.
